Match Featuring Michail Antonio Halted by Emergency Alert in Qatar

A domestic fixture involving Reggae Boy Michail Antonio’s new club was abruptly halted after a national emergency alert sounded in Qatar.

During Al Sailiya’s 3-2 victory at home to Al Shahaniya, warning sirens rang out across Doha, prompting officials to suspend play and escort both teams off the field.

Making his second outing since arriving at the club, Antonio was involved in the match before the interruption occurred.

Earlier this month, the 35-year-old secured a move as a free agent following his departure from West Ham United at the conclusion of last season.

In his first appearance for Al Sailiya, he featured in a 4-0 loss against Al Duhail just one week prior.

Despite the disruption, Wednesday’s result proved significant as the narrow win lifted Al Sailiya above Al Shahaniya and away from the foot of the standings.

Last season’s second division champions only recently returned to the top flight, making the victory an important step in their campaign.
