Reggae Pioneer Jimmy Cliff Passes Away at 81

A public announcement from Jimmy Cliff’s wife has confirmed that the acclaimed reggae performer has died at the age of 81.
According to her Instagram statement posted on Monday, Latifa revealed that her husband passed away after experiencing a seizure that was followed by pneumonia.
In the message, she expressed deep sorrow while explaining the circumstances surrounding his death.
Her note also conveyed appreciation for the many relatives, friends, colleagues, and musicians who were part of his life and career.
Latifa added that fans worldwide gave him strength throughout his journey and emphasised how much he valued their ongoing support.
Throughout his musical legacy, Cliff became known globally for memorable tracks such as “You Can Get It If You Really Want,” “The Harder They Come,” and “Wonderful World, Beautiful People.”
His achievements eventually earned him a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010, making him the only Jamaican besides Bob Marley to receive that distinction.
