Andre Blake Leads Philadelphia Union to Second MLS Supporters’ Shield Triumph
Jamaican international and Reggae Boyz skipper Andre Blake has claimed yet another major accolade in his glittering career, guiding Philadelphia Union to the 2025 MLS Supporters’ Shield title.
Presented annually to the club with the league’s best regular-season record, the Supporters’ Shield win strengthens Blake’s reputation as one of Major League Soccer’s most reliable and accomplished goalkeepers.
Philadelphia defied the odds throughout the campaign, outperforming big-money franchises such as Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.
With Blake as their defensive anchor and longest-serving player, the Union showcased remarkable determination and discipline, finishing atop the standings with 66 points.
In the decisive encounter against New York City FC on Saturday, the 33-year-old goalkeeper was once again at his best, securing his third straight clean sheet in a narrow 1-0 victory that clinched the title.
His sharp reflexes, composure, and commanding presence between the posts proved vital to the club’s consistency all season long.
This achievement brings Blake his second Supporters’ Shield, following his first triumph with the Union in 2020, adding to a growing collection of individual honours. Earlier in the year, he was recognised with MLS Save of the Month for April.
Now recovered from injury, Blake will turn his focus back to international duty as he prepares to rejoin the Reggae Boyz for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
