Karoy Anderson and Dixon Earn Championship Promotion as Charlton Edge Leyton Orient

Karoy Anderson and Kaheim Dixon are headed to the English Championship after Charlton Athletic secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Leyton Orient in Sunday’s League One play-off final at Wembley.
Charlton’s return to the Championship—after five seasons in League One—was sealed by Macaulay Gillesphey’s stunning first-half free-kick, which proved decisive in a tense and closely contested all-London affair.
After 30 minutes, former Charlton defender Rarmani Edmonds-Green, now with Leyton Orient, fouled Tyreece Campbell just outside the box, setting up the opening goal.
With Alex Gilbert standing over the ball, Gillesphey stepped up and curled a sublime effort beyond the fingertips of goalkeeper Josh Keeley, who had left too much space to his left.
The Addicks had to navigate 11 minutes of added time, stemming from a technical issue with referee Andrew Kitchen’s VAR headset, but held on resolutely to join League One champions Birmingham City and Wrexham in the Championship next season.
The second half saw a spirited response from Leyton Orient.
They struck the woodwork through Charlie Kelman, while Jordan Brown and Jack Currie both came close. However, Charlton goalkeeper Will Mannion stood firm to preserve the clean sheet.
For Dixon, a lively attacker, and Anderson, a composed midfielder, the promotion is significant.
Both have featured for Jamaica’s senior Reggae Boyz side and are now set to compete on a bigger stage.
