Government Sets New Record with $8.7 Billion Spent on Road Infrastructure Last Fiscal Year

The Government of Jamaica reportedly spent $8.7 billion on road infrastructure during the last fiscal year, marking the highest-ever allocation for road maintenance, repairs, and development in the country’s history.

This milestone was achieved by the Ministry with responsibility for works, through its lead agency, the National Works Agency (NWA).

Minister Robert Morgan described the record investment as a clear demonstration of the Government’s commitment to modernising the nation’s road network, improving connectivity, and enhancing road safety.

Looking ahead, the Government has set ambitious targets for the 2025/2026 fiscal year and intends to sustain or exceed last year’s achievements.

The Ministry has assured the public that even more communities across the island will benefit from major road infrastructure improvements in the coming months.

The Ministry’s efforts also align with the broader goals of the SPARK Programme (Shared Prosperity through Accelerated Improvement to our Road Network), which focuses on delivering durable and strategically important road upgrades to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life for Jamaicans.
