Jamaica’s World Under-20 Triple Jump Record Holder Jaydon Hibbert Turns Professional

Jaydon Hibbert, the former Kingston College standout and current world under-20 triple jump record holder, has officially announced his transition to a professional career.

The announcement was made through an emotional post on his Instagram account on Thursday night.

Hibbert expressed his gratitude to the University of Arkansas, where he had a remarkable collegiate career.

He bid farewell to his NCAA eligibility, acknowledging the university for the memories, lessons, and for helping shape his dreams into a reality as a professional athlete.

The young Jamaican athlete has been making headlines with his impressive performances, and in 2023, he was awarded the prestigious Bowerman Award for being the most outstanding male college athlete in track and field.

During his freshman year, Hibbert achieved a remarkable feat by breaking the world under-20 triple jump record that had stood for 38 years, with a jump of 17.87 meters. Additionally, he secured the NCAA Division 1 title.

Last year, shortly after celebrating his 19th birthday, Hibbert signed a lucrative name, image, and likeness (NIL) deal with Puma.

The NIL deal allowed him to receive compensation while maintaining his amateur status. However, with this recent decision to turn professional, Hibbert will forgo his NCAA eligibility.

Despite his professional status, Hibbert has chosen to remain at the University of Arkansas, where he will continue training under the guidance of coach Travis Geopfert.
