WATCH: Jamaica’s Hansle Parchment Wins Men’s 110m Hurdles Gold In Tokyo!
On Thursday, Jamaica’s Hansle Parchment shocked favourite Grant Holloway to win the men’s 110 metres hurdles gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
America’s Grant Holloway was the overwhelming favourite to win the race.
Parchment clocked a season-bet 13.04 seconds while Holloway clocked 13.09 secondss to earn the silver medal.
Parchment’s compatriot – Ronald Levy finished third, securing his first global medal with a time of 13.10 seconds.
Following the race, Parchment said:
“I could see that I got Holloway toward the line and once I was out front it meant I was winning, so I’m very happy about that.”
He added:
“I don’t think I have all the words to explain right now.
“I’m very happy, elated! It’s been a long season, a rough season. I didn’t have many races but I think I put all that was needed together to get this win.”
Jamaica’s tally of medals currently stands at seven – three gold, one silver and three bronze.
