Bailey On Target For Bayer In Pre-Season Friendly
Reggae Boy Leon Bailey narrowly missed out on scoring a brace for Bayer Leverkusen in a pre-season friendly.
Bayer went down 4:3 in a high scoring encounter against Dutch first division side Heracles Almelo.
Bailey took a short vacation after helping Jamaica advance to the semi-finals of the recently concluded Gold Cup tournament but was ready for action against the confident Dutch team.
The 21-year-old nearly scored the opener for Bayer in the 14th minute but was unlucky as his shot bounced off the goal post. He made amends in the 59th minute when he rifled one pass the Almelo shot stopper.
He will be aiming to make a big splash this season as his playtime during last season was reduced due to injury.
On Friday, President of the German football association announced the start and end dates for the 2019/2020 Bundesliga season.
The upcoming season will commence on the third weekend of August (16th-18th August 2019).
