The MCA brand icon being pushed, in its initial rollout, is based on artwork by Maia Chung, specifically her Miss Jamaica Pain painting, which is now on exhibition at the Inter-American Development Bank headquarters in the U.S.; as a part of its 2018 global moving art installation called Sidewalk of the Americas.

The merchandise name, was shortened to Miss Jamaica.

The painting by Chung, was selected by the IDB art collection, as the Jamaican representative piece, and depicts the struggle of the present day Caribbean woman, to be acknowledged as beautiful, in a contemporary world that is glorifying other racial standards as “true” beauty. Chung explains – males and females, any age or gender that wear our gear, are endorsing Jamaican beauty, in all forms.
