Elaine Thompson To Compete In Diamond League This Sunday
Jamaica’s double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson and her compatriot Ristananna Tracey are among 14 athletes on provisional lists for the the 2017 IAAF Diamond League meet in Birmingham, London on Sunday (August 20).
Tracey will grace the track just a little over a week after winning bronze with a lifetime best of 53.74 in the women’s 400m hurdles at the recently concluded IAAF World Championships in London.
Among Tracey’s main rivals, in what is expected to be a very exciting race are Dalilah Muhammad from the USA, the Czech athlete – Zuzana Hejnova, and Sage Watson from Canada.
Thompson is listed to compete in the women’s 100-metres and she will quite likely be aiming to make amends for her shock loss over said distance in the final of the women’s 100 metre at the IAAF World Athletics Championships in London.
She finished fifth in a time of 10.98 seconds.
The women’s 100 metres will feature two heats and the final on Sunday.
