Threat Level Against Police Officers Remains at Extreme
Strong Likelihood of Attacks on Police
The Police High Command, via a release published on Sunday (November 20) is reminding members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) that the threat level for Police Officers remains at Extreme.
This means that attacks against the Police are highly probable and likely to occur.
This reminder comes as a result of recent developments where criminals aligned to major gangs operating in West Kingston have been sending online threats and offering rewards ranging from JMD 100,000 to 1,000,000 for the death of Police officers.
The criminals are making the threats on the lives of Police officers who have been working and preventing gang members from invading the Denham Town and Tivoli communities.
These threats against the lives of the Police are in a bid to reduce their effectiveness.
Consequently, the High Command is advising members, especially those who live and work in the Kingston Western Division and the Corporate Area, to increase their vigilance on or off duty and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their families.
Additionally, Police personnel are being urged to continue to perform their duties without the fear of the threats from criminals as the JCF seeks to fulfil its mandate of significantly reducing crime and protect lives.
Members are also being reminded to use lawful justifiable force to defend themselves and innocent law-abiding citizens from violent attack by criminal elements.
The Police are assuring the public that they will not relent in carrying out their duties, as the safety of law-abiding citizens is a priority.
