Montego Bay Listed Among the 10 Most Visited Cities By Americans Globally
Jamaica’s tourism industry continues to flourish.
The island boasts several world renowned attractions that continue to lure visitors from all corners of the globe and there is ample reason to expect the industry to experience massive growth.
In the year 2015, Jamaica recorded 3.6 million stopover and cruise visitors combined and revenues of US$2.5 billion.
Earlier this year, Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett disclosed that during the period January to April 2016, Jamaica recorded a total of 773,458 stopover visitors and 745,220 cruise arrivals amounting to 1,518,678 visitors overall.
This equates to a 7.6 per cent increase over the same period for 2015 when the island welcomed 756,463 stopover visitors and 654,564 cruise passengers, totalling 1,411,027.
Now the popular travel website Budget Travel has listed Jamaica’s ‘second city’ – Montego Bay as the 7th most visited city by Americans.
According to the website “The all-inclusive resorts on Montego Bay (and a chance to experience Rastafarian culture) make Jamaica one of the top Caribbean destinations for U.S. travelers”.
Rose Hall Great House and Doctor’s Cave Beach, among other attractions were also featured on the listing.
