Ganja Weighing Nearly 1000 Pounds Seized in Westmoreland
The lawmen reportedly carried out an operation in the community at approximately 9:30 pm when they discovered twenty-one (21) knitted plastic bags that contained several parcels of compressed ganja.
The drug had an approximate weight of 806 pounds, and an estimated street value of $3.2 million. No arrests were made during the seizure.
McArthur Sutherland, Commanding Officer for Narcotics Division, Senior Superintendent of Police, stated:
“We are of the view that this drug was intended for Haiti in support of the illegal drugs for guns trade operations between smugglers from the two nations.”
“We pledge to continue our operations to prevent ganja from leaving our shores to fuel this illicit trade and thereby further disrupt the activities of Major Drug Trafficking syndicates,” he added.
