Usain Bolt’s 9.58 -100m Time Included in List Of 17 Most Important Records in Sports
Fox Sports on Tuesday published their list of the 17 most important records in sports.
Unsurprisingly, a record belonging to the world’s fastest man, Jamaica’s Usain Bolt has been included.
In 2009, Bolt literally stunned the world when he broke his own 100m record of 9.69 seconds to clock a blistering time of 9.58 seconds at the World Championships staged in Berlin.
Nearly seven years later, Bolt still holds the record and that sprint is still widely regarded as the greatest 100m race in history.
Since 1983, the 100m record had not gone four years without being broken.
Before that, however, Jim Hines’ 9.95, run in the thin air of Mexico City in 1968, had been on the books for 25 years.
Among the other records included in the list were: the longest hitting streak in Major League Baseball (56 games) by Joe DiMaggio, the most Masters titles in Golf (6) by Jack Nicklaus, the most points in an NBA game (100) by Wilt Chamberlain and the most consecutive wins in the NBA (33) by the Los Angeles Lakers.
