JUTC Buses Vandalized!

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) says 5 of its units were significantly damaged in separate incidents yesterday(April 7th), leaving the company with a possible $1 m repair bill.

JUTC Managing Director Colin Campbell says one man has been taken into police custody in relation to one of the incidents.

Mr. Campbell adds that the police have launched a search for others involved, including the mastermind behind this morning’s attacks.

At a hastily called press conference at the JUTC Headquarters in St. Catherine yesterday afternoon, Mr. Campbell gave details of at least 6 separate incidents, during which 5 JUTC buses were damaged.

  

The incidents include stoning of a bus in the Duhaney Park area, another unit damaged by fire possibly set by arsonists, and the severing of a radiator hose in another bus.

Mr. Campbell says no passenger or driver was wounded during the incidents.

He adds that additional security measures have been put in place.
