Dancehall Entertainer arrested in the United States for Drugs
One of the members of dancehall group Merital Family was allegedly nabbed in the US for cocaine possession.
Trovoy Keneale Brackett of the all-male group was held by border patrol agents at the Manhattan Hudson River on a cruise ship coming from St. Maarten.
Law enforcement officers say the cocaine was found disguised in mixtures that weighed over five kilograms.
Derrick Edwards aka Corey, who is the only remaining member of the Merital family, told Irie FM’s Music News in an exclusive interview that the situation is depressing and has forced him to take a month away from the music.
The three-member group from Flankers, Montego Bay, shot to stardom in 2010 when they did My Money Ha Ha on the Strip Club rhythm and was part of the Vybz Kartel-led Portmore Empire.
Trovoy Keneale Brackett is presently in a US facility on drug charges along with four others.
