Young Reggae Boyz Deliver Under Pressure to Seal World Cup Place

Jamaica’s Under-17 Reggae Boyz secured a place at a third FIFA Under-17 World Cup after defeating Canada 3-1 in their decisive Group G clash at the Concacaf Qualifier earlier today.
That victory confirmed the young Reggae Boyz as group winners and marked the first time in 15 years that a Jamaican men’s team has qualified for a World Cup.
Jahmarie Nolan opened the scoring in the 37th minute, giving Jamaica a deserved lead before the interval.
Lamone Lyle, who set up Nolan’s first-half strike, extended the advantage in the 53rd minute to put Jamaica firmly in control.
Canada responded in the 71st minute through Van Parker, reducing the deficit and setting up a tense finish.
Further complications for the Canadians came in the 85th minute when Vicente Lorenco received a second yellow card, cutting short their hopes of a late revival.
Capitalising on their numerical superiority, Jamaica added a third goal in stoppage time at 90th+2 to secure the result.
With the win, Jamaica advanced as Group G leaders and booked their spot at the tournament set for Qatar in November.
Back in 1999, the nation achieved its first appearance at the Under-17 World Cup before earning another berth in 2011.
