Jamaica U-17s Open CONCACAF Qualifiers With Convincing 3–0 Win

An impressive opening performance saw Jamaica’s Under-17 men’s football team secure a 3–0 win over Aruba in Group G of the CONCACAF qualifiers in Costa Rica on Friday.
The breakthrough arrived just before the halftime whistle, as Kelvin Brown found the net in the 45th minute to send the young Reggae Boyz into the break with a deserved advantage.
Control of the contest remained firmly with Jamaica after the restart, and that dominance paid off late when Justin Hayles struck in the 82nd minute to extend the lead.
Any lingering doubt about the outcome was removed in the final moments, with Jahmarie Nolan scoring in the 90th minute to complete a confident victory.
Friday’s contest represented the second time the two sides have met in CONCACAF Under-17 qualifying competition.
History between the teams heavily favours Jamaica, whose previous meeting with Aruba came in the 1992 tournament, ending in a commanding 10–1 group-stage win.
The latest result further strengthened Jamaica’s strong record when opening the competition against Caribbean opponents.
Across five such opening fixtures at the Under-17 level, the Reggae Boyz have now recorded four wins alongside a single draw.
Attention now turns to the next group encounter, with Jamaica set to face the Cayman Islands on Sunday at 12pm Jamaica time.
