JCF Reports Notable Decrease in Serious Crimes

According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, major crimes have decreased since the beginning of this year compared to the same period last year.

Notably, there has been a significant reduction in murders, with 236 cases reported up to March 12, 2023, compared to 292 in the corresponding period in 2022.

Similarly, shootings have decreased by 14%, falling from 223 to 191 cases this year.

Robberies have also seen a decline from 198 cases in 2022 to 131 cases this year, while break-ins have decreased from 196 last year to 170 for the review period.

  

Additionally, the number of reported rape cases has decreased by more than half.

Up to March 12, 2022, there were 109 reported cases, but only 51 have been reported during the same period this year.
