Police Constable killed in Manchester
A second member of the constabulary force has been killed this year.
According to The Observer, the police constable was shot dead in Manchester about 11:00 pm Thursday.
The cop has been identified by a colleague as Orville Preadie, who is said to be in his early 30s.
He was shot at a shop in the community of Farm in the parish, a colleague told OBSERVER ONLINE.
He died leaving two young children and a wife.
“All the stats about crime is down means nothing to his wife and kids,” said an obviously saddened colleague of the cop. “He was a jovial person, hard working.”
Preadie, who has served the Island Special Constabulary Force for about a decade before it merged with the Jamaica Constabulary Force, is said by a close friend of having plans to quit the force and live overseas.
