According to a report by Loop Jamaica, a two-year old was on Thursday evening (July 21) murdered by a man believed to be mentally ill in Lewis, St Ann.
Jayheim Cooper’s throat was slashed by the man who went on an attacking spree with a knife following an argument with a family member.
Reports are that, on Thursday evening, the man got in an argument with a family member when he left home.
He went to a nearby property where he stabbed a man before he went on to slash the child’s throat. The child’s father was also attacked.
Angry residents set upon the accused man, tied and beat him before he was rescued by the police.
He and his victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Several persons converged at the St Ann’s Bay Hospital shortly after demanding that the man be released to them, so they could inflict their own justice.
Consequently, the police maintained a presence at the hospital to prevent an attack on the health facility and the accused man.
