Delay in Vybz Kartel Murder Trial

The morning session of the Murder case involving dancehall artiste, Vybz Kartelwas delayed today as meetings with expert witnesses were not held.

At the start of the morning proceedings, lead defense attorney, Tom Tavares-Finson made an appeal for the prosecution to make the expert witnesses, who were slated to testify this morning, available to the defense.

Mr. Tavares-Finson says the meeting between the defense attorneys were to be held yesterday but was not done as the defense was not able to get in touch with the respective persons at the agreed upon time.

Tom Tavares-Finson also adds that efforts were made to contact the lead prosecutor but were unsuccessful. He says the defense cannot continue without meeting these witnesses and suggested that if the prosecution has other non-expert witnesses, the defense is willing to proceed with the case.

Justice Lennox Campbell instructed the prosecution to honour Mr. Tavares-Finson’s request to facilitate the meeting with the expert witnesses and also to see if other witness can be made available to testify.

He then adjourned the case until two p.m this afternoon.
