An 18-year-old female student of the University of the West Indies reportedly succumbed to injuries she received in an accident in St Mary on Sunday morning.

The student sustained injuries after a vehicle in which she was travelling crashed on the Gully Road in Oracabessa in the parish.

The deceased has been identified as Abigail Angus.

Police in Oracabessa say that at approximately 4:20 a.m., Angus was a passenger in a SUV motor vehicle, when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into a tree.

Angus was rushed to hospital, where she died while undergoing treatment.

Police continue to probe the incident.
