On Saturday evening a woman and her daughter were reportedly killed in Cambridge, St James.

Gunshots were heard in the area before 44-year-old Annmarie Johnson and her daughter, 24-year-old Shantoy McKenzie, were found unconscious on Mother Lane in the community.

Both women reportedly had what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

They were carried to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

St James continues to top homicide statistics having been plagued by many heinous crimes in recent years.

The lottery scam and turf battles are widely believed to be major contributing factors for the levels of crime in St James.
