Some Coins To Be Removed From Circulation In Jamaica

A proposal from the Bank of Jamaica to discontinue the circulation of some coins has been approved by Cabinet.

The revelation came on Wednesday morning (Sept 13) via Information Minister Senator Ruel Reid.

While speaking at a media briefing at Jamaica House, Reid said  the coins to be discontinued are the one cent, ten cent and 25 cent coins.

He disclosed that only one dollar, five dollar, ten dollar and twenty dollar coins will remain in circulation.

  

The minister also said the date of this implementation will be revealed soon.
