On Saturday, Jamaica’s Usain Bolt completed the final individual race of his professional career at the World Championships in London.

And though a third-place finish ruined his fairy-tale ending, the world’s fastest man was treated to a chorus of cheers from thousands of fans at the jam-packed stadium in London.

“Usain Bolt…Usain Bolt,” they chanted in unison. And since the race,  persons across the globe, including many celebrities have offered tributes to the man who is regarded as the greatest sprinter of all time.

On Sunday, football great David Beckahm posted a wonderful tribute to Bolt via Instagram.

The tribute reads:

“We salute you my friend …. For so many years we have watched in admiration and appreciation in what this man has achieved and the happiness he has brought not just to the sport but to millions of children and adults that have had the pleasure to witness the heights of what he has reached year after year…. It’s sad to see it come to an end but all I want to say is Thank you @usainbolt “
