England, Australia Gear Up For The Ashes Series

In November, Australia and England will once again compete in the Ashes series.

Both teams currently sit well above the West Indies in the international Test rankings (3rd and 4th respectively).

The West Indies are currently number eight in the most recent ranking by the ICC. However,  Windies players are still expected to play close attention to the series to garner additional insight on areas of weakness in the teams.

England has scheduled three warm-up games just prior to the series. The tourists will face a Western Australia XI in a two-day match beginning on November 4, before competing a day-night match against a Cricket Australia (CA) XI, on November 8.

They will also face another CA XI over four days beginning on November 15.

And Australia recently erred on the side of caution by omitting left fast bowler Mitchell Starc from their squad for a two-Test tour of Bangladesh to grant him enough time to properly prepare for the upcoming Ashes series.

The decision was made after scans showed that a stress fracture suffered by Starc earlier this year, has not fully healed.

It’s really anyone’s guess who will win the Ashes, but so far BetOnline.ag has these odds: Australia -175, England +225, Draw +550.

The series will be contested at five venues across Australia between 23 November 2017 and 8 January 2018.
