Chinese Company – JISCO To Provide 1,000 Jobs For Jamaicans

The Chinese-owned Jiuquan Iron and Steel Company (JISCO) is reportedly gearing up to undertake new developments that should provide jobs for one thousand Jamaicans.

According to Minister of Transport and Mining, Mike Henry, between 2017 and 2025, new developments will commence, which will include the rehabilitation and upgrade of a new power plant.

While speaking at a post cabinet press briefing yesterday morning, Mr Henry stated that the Power Plant will produce 70 to 80 megawatts of energy.

He also disclosed that the new power plant will be able to facilitate a new aluminum excursion plant for aluminum foil, which will take place in 2 to 3 years among other developments.

  

JISCO already employs 720 people at their Alpart Plant.
