Jamaica Has its Best Performance to Date at Special Olympics Winter Games

Jamaica pulled off its best performance ever at the Special Olympics Winter Games after earning a total of 5 medals at the recently concluded games in Austria.

The Special Olympics World Games are an international sporting competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

On Friday, the final day of competition, Jamaica won two gold medals to increase its medal tally to five.

Speed skater Romaine Austin earned his second gold, snatching victory in division 18 of the 333 metre race ahead of Hanz Jacobs of the Netherlands and Daniel Golub of Croatia.

  

A day earlier, Austin won gold in division 15 of the 500 metre race.

Dave Oddman also earned a gold medal for his efforts in division 32 of the speed skating event.

Jamaica’s five medals are comprised of 3 gold, 1 silver, and a bronze.
