Reggae Boy Wes Morgan Included in CONCACAF’s Best Eleven For 2016
Jamaica international defender Wes Morgan has been included in CONCACAF’s Male Team of the Year for 2016.
Morgan, who serves as captain for both the Reggae Boyz and the English club Leicester City was named along four defenders including Ronald Matarrita (Costa Rica), Rafael Marquez (Mexico) and Miguel Layún (Mexico).
The midfield include Christian Bolanos (Costa Rica), Atiba Hutchinson (Canada), Andres Guardado and Hirving Lozano who are both from Mexico.
Bryan Ruiz (Costa Rica) and André-Pierre Gignac (France) are the strikers named on the list.
Ruiz and Alex Morgan were named CONCACAF Male and Female Players of the Year.
Winners in 8 other categories for the annual CONCACAF awards were:
Costa Rican Keylor Navas of Real Madrid was named Male Goalkeeper of the Year with American Ashlyn Harris taking the women’s award.
Óscar Ramírez and Amelia Valverde (Costa Rica) were named Male and Female Coaches of the Year.
This year’s Outstanding Performance Award went to the Canadian women’s national team and head coach John Herdman, medallists at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
