No Evidence of Plastic in Lisa Hanna’s Rice

On Wednesday (January 11), South East St Ann Member of Parliament Lisa Hanna sent tongues wagging after she posted a video online of rice she bought locally which appeared to be fake.

The video was uploaded with the caption: “Got caught with the “plastic” rice at home ?”.

Hanna also stated that she had sent samples to be tested.

However, just a day after Hanna posted her video, the agriculture ministry said that after testing multiple samples of rice submitted by the Member of Parliament, the Bureau of Standards found no evidence of plastic or unusual behaviour in the samples.

Hanna has since posted an update on her video stating:

The Bureau Of Standards Jamaica through it National Compliance and Regulatory Authority was sent the samples of the rice. They tested it for plastic only, and concluded that “there is no indication of contamination from plastic in the rice.” I certainly will be eating more sweet potato and green banana from now on …”
