Jamaica Tops Caribbean With 9 Awards at World Travel Awards

Each year, an international jury of hospitality experts and peers decide on awards presented to hotels and other hospitality companies at the World Travel Awards (WTA).

The awards are issued both on a world level and international region level in a wide range of categories.

The categories include hotel, airline, travel agency, and car-hire company.

On Friday (December 2), the 23rd staging of the prestigious ceremony was held in the Maldives, southern Asia.

  

And Jamaica topped the Caribbean winning a total of nine awards.

Jamaica was presented with awards for World’s Leading Cruise Destination and World’s Leading Wedding Destination.

Several of the island’s resorts and travel partners were also awarded:

World’s Leading Luxury Hotel Villa (Ian Fleming Villa @ Goldeneye); World’s Leading New Island Resort (Melia BracoVillage), World’s Leading Villa Resort (Round Hill Hotel and Villas); World’s Leading Family Resort Brand (Beaches); World’s Leading All-Inclusive Company (Sandals Resorts International); and World’s Leading Caribbean Attractions Company (Island Routes Caribbean Adventure).

Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett also copped the award for the World’s Leading Personality for Outstanding Services to Travel.
