Reggae Boyz in Panama For Must Win World Cup Qualifier

Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz recently arrived in Panama to continue preparations for their must win world cup qualifying encounter against the Central American nation.

The ‘Boyz’ have not had the best results against Panama.

In the past 7 match ups between the teams, Jamaica has managed to win just once in June, 2009 with a 3-2 victory.

Panama won 3 of those matches, with the other three matches ending in ties.

Jamaica lost the most recent encounter with Panama on home soil by a score of 2-0. Following that loss, the Reggae Boyz received harsh criticism for what many considered a lacklustre performance.

The team will stage two official training sessions before the game which kicks off at 8:30PM (local time) on September 2.

Jamaica is currently third in group B with 4 points. Costa Rica sits on atop the group with 10 points followed by Panama on 7 and Haiti with 1 point.

Only the top two teams from this round will advance to the “Hexagonal” – where six teams will play home-and-away round-robin matches in one single group.

From there, the top three teams will qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, while the fourth-placed team will advance to the inter-confederation play-offs.
