Puma Creates Robot That Runs As Fast As Usain Bolt (VIDEO)

Nowadays there are many options to choose from when it comes to fitness apps and monitoring devices.

Many of them have helped to change the way in which athletes train and monitor their health and athletic performance.

Now PUMA has gone even further in its bid to help athletes run faster with the PUMA BeatBot.

PUMA describes the impressive piece of tech as “a programmable, self-driving, line-following robot that inspires PUMA’s runners of all levels to push harder by giving them a real visual target to beat, not just the time on a stopwatch.”

The BeatBot is kind of similar to the mechanical rabbits that race dogs would chase but is a heck of a lot smarter.

It is seeming very easy to use as well. Runners using the device are simply required to enter the distance they want to run, the time in which they want to cover said distance, place it on the track and go.

With this device, athletes will have the option of racing their own best time or that of a rival.

BeatBot is fast! The device is capable of matching Usain Bolt’s 100m world record reaching 44km/h.

But BeatBot is not limited to sprint training.

Courtesy of nine infrared sensors, PUMA’s BeatBot is able to assist in long distance runs by following the lines on the track.

The impressive device counts the revolutions of the wheels to calculate speed and distance and uses that data to make over 100 adjustments per second.
