Friends Born Female But Living As Men Reveal Their Identities in Jamaica (Video)

Jamaican-born friends Steffan Zachiyah and Romario Wanliss were born female but are currently living as males.

An expose by the BBC, followed the two transgender friends on a a life-changing journey to reveal their new identities to their families in Jamaica for the first time.

Though there were concerns for their safety and a lot of uncertainty from not knowing how their relatives would react to the surprising news, the friends were determined to open up about who they are.

Numerous news and documentary agencies have taken a keen interest in showcasing the struggles faced by gays in Jamaica in recent years.

  

Jamaica is still considered by some human rights groups to be one of the most homophobic countries in the world.
