Early Election Date Chosen to Hide Something Says Holness

On Sunday night Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller announced that Jamaicans will go to the polls on February 25.

She made the announcement at a massive People’s National Party rally in Half Way Tree.

The Prime Minister stated it will be up to the people to decide whether they want to turn back to the dark  days or continue with the People’s National Party.

Now leader of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Andrew Holness is suggesting that the Prime Minister hurriedly called the elections to evade political backlash from  some “serious things” to come in the Budget in March.

While speaking with Television Jamaica, Holness stated “Clearly, there is something to hide,” just a few moments after the Prime Minister announced February 25 as Election Day.

“There is the pension reform, which will effectively just take away the small increase that civil servants have received. Then there is the ominous warning of the IMF, which stated in their ninth review that there are tougher measures to come, undesirable measures to come, if the government is not able to produce economic growth,” Holness stated.

Mr Holness also stated the JLP is absolutely ready adding that the party has been preparing since September.
