Father’s Day

Being a father is a huge responsibility, harder than I thought

There are so many components, it can leave one distraught

As for who is the best father it sure isn’t me

It could be that Cosby guy, yes the one on TV

A father is a hard role to play when there’s no camera no lights no sound

Got to get your hands dirty there’s just no way around

Before I became a dad the books that I read

poemsMade it seem easy boy was I misled

Still after all this time being a dad

I’m still learning lessons they continue to add

I want to be a good father not because of Fathers’ Day

To be an example to my three boys to show them the way

Even though they’ll find when it’s their turn

The lessons taught will have to be relearned

This journey of fatherhood is a journey in deed

With many possible outcomes and no guarantees

But since we’re already fathers there’s no turning back

No running away so may as well unpack

I have no advice for the father you should be

Except take care of your children help make them happy
