Rare Footage of Jamaica’s First Miss World Winner (1963-Video)

We all know Jamaica has fared pretty well in Miss World pageants.

The island with a population of approximately 2.7 million people has already amassed three titles and we anticipate earning more in the coming years.

What many people (mostly younger folks) are still unaware of however, is that the first Jamaican to earn the prestigious title did so in 1963.

Her name is Carole Joan Crawford.

At age 20 standing firmly at five feet -three inches which is short by Miss World standards, the young beauty made history by becoming the first delegate from Jamaica to win the title.

The pageant was held in London, United Kingdom.
