Two missing children found dead in Trelawny

The search is now over for two children who went missing after leaving home for a beach trip on Sunday.

According to a report by Irie FM, the bodies of 2 children were found in a section of the Martha Brae River in Trelawny this morning (July 15, 2014), pulling a massive crowd behind police cordon.

Police have confirmed that the bodies are that of 10 year old Maleeka Mitchell and 12 year old Omari Sterling of Paradise Norwood, St James, who went missing on Sunday after leaving home to go to the One Man Beach in the parish.

They were in the company of other children and taken to the beach by a man from their community.

  

There were scenes of anguish where the bodies of 2 children were found in a section of the Martha Brae River, about a mile off the Hague Main Road, near Falmouth, Trelawny.

The mothers of both children arrived on the scene, where Omari’s mom fainted.

It is reported that the bodies of the children were discovered naked.

The police say an on spot post mortem will be conducted later today (July 15) to determine the cause of death.
