Celestial Love

“I love you to the moon and back” I said;

“I love you to the sun and back”, said he;

And I smiled, and I smiled, for I felt he didn’t lie.

 

“Do you still love me to the sun and back?” I asked;

“No. To other galaxies and beyond”, he replied;

And I smiled and I smiled, for I felt he didn’t lie.

 

The sun must have lost its glow, and the galaxies must have imploded,

For his love no longer stretches that far and my smile has long since faded;

But I still love him to the moon and back, for I know I didn’t lie…
