Perfection

Caribbean Poetry, Poems from the Caribbean, Caribbean Writers

To be immaculate is to be everything they want you to be.

Rather to be every thing you want you to be, that’s if perfection can be touched or even attained.

Perfection?

Beautiful, ugly not as intelligent as they.

Who are they?

Do they know  themselves?

These epitomes of perfection.

In my perspective the lost souls, who strive to grasp this dream.

Perpetually slipping through their fingers like grains of the sand.

That can never be held or broken into anything.

What is perfection?

These effigies chiseled to capture its essence.

The meaning can never be understood or is it us who fail to comprehend?

“Worthless- you are nothing!” they say…

Ridiculed for not being “perfection”!

Punished for being human, being ourselves.

Our own version of us.
